Position Summary
The Senior Tax Accountant - Income Taxes will assist the Tax Manager - Income Taxes and the Tax Director in executing the Tax Department's objectives of optimizing the effective income tax rate and minimizing income tax cash flow through tax planning, managing income and franchise tax accounting and financial reporting and managing income and franchise tax compliance and audit activities of The Andersons, Inc. and subsidiaries and affiliates.

Organizational Relationship
The Senior Tax Accountant will report to the Tax Manager - Income Taxes. The incumbent will work closely with, and will act as a resource for, the Tax Accountant - Income Taxes and other Tax Department personnel.
Principal Accountabilities
The following accountabilities are to be carried out in a manner consistent with the spirit and philosophy outlined in The Andersons' Statement of Principles:
1. For The Andersons, its subsidiaries and affiliates, including Ethanol Group joint ventures, prepare or review annual U.S. Federal corporate and partnership income tax returns, annual state and local corporate and partnership income and franchise tax returns, related quarterly estimated tax payment calculations, and extension calculations.
2. Assist with coordinating and providing information needed for the preparation of non-U.S. tax returns (currently for Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico) that are prepared by local accounting firms in those jurisdictions. Prepare the calculation of tax installments for the Canadian and Puerto Rican companies.
3. Assume responsibility for the coordination and review of record-keeping related to the tax aspects of the Company's fixed assets and for the record-keeping and reporting aspects of its like-kind exchange program, for both tax accounting and tax compliance purposes.
4. Depending on the size and scope, coordinate or provide assistance with Federal, state and local income and franchise tax audits. Prepare responses to notices received from Federal, state and local income and franchise tax authorities.
5. Prepare or review U.S. monthly, quarterly and annual tax provision calculations as provided by ASC 740, including related journal entries and tax account reconciliations.
6. Assume the role of the Tax Department's primary resource with respect to the Fixed Asset module of SAP.
7. Provide assistance on federal, state and local tax planning projects as assigned by the Tax Manager - Income Taxes or Tax Director. Provide assistance in researching technical tax issues as assigned.
8. Assist the Tax Manager - Income Taxes with insuring Sarbanes Oxley 404 compliance for income tax accounting.
9. Assist with various research and planning projects related to organization structure, transaction structure and other issues as they arise in order to provide support to the operating groups and minimize the Company's effective income tax rate and tax cash outlay.
Job Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting or other business-related field required
Masters in Taxation degree is preferred
Experience:
Three to five years of progressive work experience with U.S. consolidated Federal and multistate corporate income taxes and U.S. partnership taxes
Knowledge or experience with federal income tax laws and state and local tax laws
Certifications/Licenses:
Working knowledge of IRC sections 168 and accounting for income taxes under ASC 740 Experience with IRC section 199, like-kind exchange programs, tax provision software and SAP is highly desired
Certified Public Accountant designation is strongly preferred
A working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software applications are requiredEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
